A little clarification, and lots more confusion - about the archive.

First off I would like to say from all of us mods, that the LoM is very dear to us, and we want nothing more than for it to exist for longer than Thranduil lived. But we all decided that we do not want to have all the work, and all the expenses, so it runs purely on donations. (not saying that we don't donate though). And this brings me to my point, so all of you who donated in our last donation drive, you should know that you paid for the host, and for the site to be on those servers till sometime this June.

What happened and why the site is offline, is because as I understand it, the domain was not registered with the host, and also sold to third party company while we have owned/used it. And so due to lack of comunication, none of us knew that the domain was about to expire. What we are trying to do is to re-buy the domain, so the site can come up on the dot-com where it belongs. There has not been a solution today, but we hope there will be one in the near future. Should you need a fix, you can always swing by the forum.

I will get back to you all when we either find a solution, or it's solved, but I assure you we are on it like hobbits on second breakfast. =)

Sorry to hear that. Things like this can be a real pain, so I hope you can manage to unscramble it.

On a related topic, is this LJ comm still accepting fic? I posted an entry a couple of days ago but got a note about a moderation queue and there don;t seem to have been any non mod posts for a while.

I appreciate you have your hands full, so there's no rush. I just wasn't sure what there score is here.

It's up now, I can tell you why it landed in the queue, it's because you're not a member of the community. =)

Thank you! That's really weird, because when I went into my settings on the comm LJ seemed to be telling me I was a member ad I certainly thought I;d joined. But thank you for sorting it out!

We know. As I said, we wasn't aware that the domain was about to expire, I am not the one who handles the tech stuff, but I know that Fabs have desperately been trying to get a hold of some people about the domain.

It's not totally gone, but it's offline for a little while till we find a solution.

Thanks for all your hard work!! I have to admit I freaked out when I couldn't get onto the site. So many fics archived there and nowhere else!!!

I'm one of those starving college students, but I'm willing to throw a few dollars to keep the site running whenever you guys have another donation drive.
